The actress was born 12 November 1985 (age 34 years), in Accra, Ghana to Ghanaian  parents, she is a descent of the Fante people. She started her primary education at St. Martin De Porres school in Accra.She was single handedly raised by her mother,as her father exited their lives at a very young age.She is the last born of 4 children.

Yvonne later went on to Aggrey Memorial Senior High School. She also went on to Zenith University
College and Central University College to complete her tertiary education.

Yvonne who is a former Miss Ghana Contestant, she later bust onto the movie scene with big-screen roles in Princess Tyra and Playboy, she also got into movie production in 2011, her first personal production was the movie "The Price".

According to Yvonne, she was not even going to audition for the big movie productions. She got her first big part completely accidentally, without even planning. As she remembered, she only went to have lunch at her favourite place, and the audition for the movie was going on there at the same time. The young beauty was spotted by the producer of the movie, who asked her if she was there to audition for the role.She said that she did not want to audition, but the producer asked her if she was certain. Even though she rejected the proposition, the producer later got her number and gave her a call, asking her to come.The actress thought that it will not hurt if she came, and once she got the role, she never had any regrets about it.
 She is also the producer of Single and Married which came out in 2012 and House of Gold (2013) which later won best picture at the Ghana Movie Awards and Best Ghanaian Movie.

Nelson also has a big love for music,as she remembers, she was always into music, and at the start, she did not have any interest in acting. Unlike many other actors, she did not dream of starring in movies. Back in her university days, she used to perform rap songs on stage, and overall she was really into music and singing. 

She also enjoys doing all the romantic scenes that the movies require but notes that she would not go any further than kissing.

However, this wedding was only for the movie that they both starred in, and it was confirmed that they have never been in a relationship, especially taking into account that fact that Chris has a wife.

She has come out to deny the rumour several times.”
On October 29, 2017, she had her first child with her ex-boyfriend, Jamie Roberts. The actress kept mute about rumours of her pregnancy until she announced it through a magazine cover.
She didn't even reveal who the baby father was while pregnant.







The media found out his name anyway – He was a photographer from the UK,and his name is Jamie Roberts,he was the mystery boyfriend/baby father. The fans wondered and speculated if this will lead to marriage. However, not everything was so smooth. It turned out that Jamie was supposedly married to another woman! There was also the allegation that he was in a relationship with a Nigerian lady named Keela Harrison, and even had children with her.

Nelson seemed to ignore all these rumours and allegations though as she continually posted pictures of the couple on social media and professing how in love they were.

Like all good things,the relationship of the couple finally ended.Even though their child Ryn Roberts had just arrived.Nelson then deleted all the romantic photos with Jamie from her Instagram, and they both unfollowed each other.She then said that she and her baby father are still on good terms.
We don't know the marital status of the actress now,although in September 2018,she did claim she was married.
