The cause of death of Tara Palmer Tomkinson,the popular high society girl who was once known as the "it girl" has left people in Britain baffled.The talk is she died of brain tumour.The growth was found on the pituitary gland in her brain.She had been aware of the condition as far back as 2002,when she revealed on celebrity big brother that she had been diagnosed with a non-malignant brain tumour and worried that it could kill her.
But that was not all the society girl had to fight.Tara’s blood tests also revealed that she was suffering
from a rare auto-immune condition, related to her anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA-related), in which abnormal antibodies attack the body’s cells and tissues.
Left untreated the condition – which occurs in roughly one in every 50,000 people – can eat away at your lungs and kidneys.
She was diagnosed with the condition which can cause weakness, blood-filled urine and red spots on the skin 18 months after she had it.
Then there was the drugs.She battled addiction to cocaine and other drugs. A post-mortem will now be carried out to try and establish the cause of death. Unless conclusive proof emerges, further toxicology tests will check whether she had drugs in her bloodstream.
The Socialite was said to have been 'acting crazy' and banging on a door in her apartment block just days before she was found dead.
Reports are that she had not been seen for 4 to five days before she was discovered in her flat.Builders are also said to have heard a loud bang in her flat at that period.
Tara who was also Prince Charles' god daughter never got married.But she had some well publicised relationships with other celebs,some of which were with EastEnders’ Sid Owen in 1998 before a year-long relationship with Duran Duran keyboardist Nick Rhodes, who helped her through rehab.
Shortly after being treated for cocaine addiction, Tara fell for Greg Martin, playboy son of Beatles producer Sir George Martin, even getting engaged.
She had her heart broken when she was dumped by Matalan heir Jamie Hargreaves who she dated in 2004. She was distraught when he dumped her.
She also dated singer James Blunt, who she had a brief fling with in 2006 and Blue star Duncan James who then became her best friend.
