The man who sculpted the world cup Silvio Gazzaniga is dead.The Italian sculptor, who designed and created the current version of the FIFA World Cup trophy died at the age of 95. Silvio designed the trophy in 1971. He passed away in his sleep on Monday October 31 following series of minor aliment.
The trophy had to be replaced after Brazil had won the previous trophy,the Jules Rimet trophy for keeps.But the world cup sculpted by Silvio Gazzaniga which was won by
Germany in 1974 for the first time ,is undoubtedly the better looking trophy of the two.
A released statement from his son, Giorgio, announced his father’s demise. ‘He just didn't wake up this morning. It was a peaceful death.’
