“On the matter of herdsmen/farmers' clashes, I wish to state that this Administration will not tolerate or condone acts of banditry and criminality, under any guise. As such, our security agencies have been mandated to deal with such acts decisively"he said
While doing this article,i tried to do some research on the Fulani herdsmen attack in Nigeria, the pictures i saw made me sick.Little children hacked to death, young men hacked to death on the streets with the most sickening injuries. How can this have been allowed to happen for so long? Its not as if these Fulani herdsmen are anonymous, you can see them from miles away, its very easy for the police to monitor them and carry out any actions needed.
If befitting laws had been laid down, many lives would and could have been saved. But when these men see that all their acts of impunity has gone unpunished, what is to stop them from spreading their violent crusade?
Its very sad and i hope this declaration and order from the president which in my opinion is a hundred years too late will go a long way in curbing the disgusting and barbaric killings of the Fulani herdsmen in Nigeria.
