The 37 year old actress was born on the 1st of January, 1979 as a second child in a family of five in Edo State, Nigeria, but later went to Lagos state where she grew up. Mercy schooled at primary level in Lagos then the Polytechnic, Ibadan where she had her OND in Financial Studies went on to the University of Lagos in 2001 for a degree in Theater Arts.

Mercy Aigbe wedding.The actress has been married 2 times.Her first marriage crashed.She blamed the mother of her husband for being responsible for the failed marriage.She made it known that her mother-in-law did not want her son to marry from another tribe. In her words, she said:“I had a bad experience the first time, so I had some reservations and I just wanted to face my career, even though I loved him. I decided to put my trust in God and just go with the flow. I was happy and scared at the same time. Then, I was young and naive. Now, I handle issues differently. Also, the major reason my first marriage failed was because my ex-husband’s mum did not want him to marry from another tribe” she said.
She then got married a second time to her current husband hotelier Lanre Gentry.Speaking on the marriage to Lanre,she said- “I do not think I have had any controversies since I got married. They were just misconceptions. People thought I married a married man and I was a second wife. What they did not know or care to know was that he was already a divorcee when we met” she added.She strongly denied the insinuations stating-i am not a home breaker.The couple have shown a great harmony in public and though there has been a couple of well published scandal,like the one suggesting he beat her up and another which said she was fooling around with another man on her birthday in an hotel.The actress and her husband have denied all this allegations and rumours.

Mercy Aigbe has 2 children,a daughter and a son.There were strong rumours around July 2015 that she was pregnant and expecting a baby.Well this is a year later and no new baby has surfaced ,so it obviously was a rumour.Mercy and her daughter are very close,you can see many pictures of them together on social media and also at functions.The daughter is named Michelle and she is 14 years old going on 15 in July 2016.Her son on the other hand named Juwon celebrated his 6th birthday in July 2016.
