Ronke Bewaji Shonde buried. The ex-banker, Mrs. Ronke Shonde, who was allegedly killed by her husband,Lekan Shonde, was interred at the Atan cemetery, Yaba, on Friday.
It is reported her family said that Ronke Shonde's burial was deliberately scheduled to follow the appearance of Mr. Lekan Shonde in court over her murder.
"The family took the decision to quietly bury Ronke in order to keep eyes of the public away
for the issue and allow the story fade off gradually", the source said."The family took the decision to quietly bury Ronke in order to keep eyes of the public away
Another source from Saharareporters also learned that the family had tried hard to keep the entire issues around the death of late Ronke Bewaji private, so as to "manage" the entire incident internally.
However, the curious disappearance of her husband shortly after her death caused unprecedented media attention.
An autopsy report had attributed the death of Ronke to respiratory seizure and her husband was arraigned earlier today with one count of murder .
People reportedly wailed uncontrollably while her corpse was being lowered into the grave.
This was a very brave decision by the family. There has been so much interest and coverage on the late Mrs Shonde's death that if the details of her burial had leaked, would have ensued that her burial became a circus. It also speaks a lot of Ronke's family members that they kept the burial secret and in this day and age of social media not a single media outlet found out about it.Shows a very close knit family.
Ronke's deceased’s body was conveyed to the cemetery in a hired hearse which left the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) morgue at about 2:00pm.
Our correspondent learnt that a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor from Destiny Sanctuary held a brief sermon that lasted about five minutes.
The sermon, it was gathered, preceded solemn hymns sang by those gathered at the cemetery.
The deceased’s relatives, who still feel shortchanged by the result of the autopsy, it was gathered, demanded that justice be served on her alleged killer.
“Honestly, justice should be served because these children have been deprived of the joy of having a mother. They will never know motherhood, but when they grow up and understand what deprived them of that joy, they will be comforted that justice was done. I believe that is the only thing that will sooth them in years to come,” said a male relative of the deceased.
According to the relative, Ronke Shonde was a lovely person who deserves to get justice.RIP Ronke Bewaji Shonde.
