Bukola Saraki trial ongoings has just confirmed that Nigerian politicians have their own interest first and the nations a very distant second.In most civilized country,by now Senator Saraki would have resigned as the senate president,not necessarily because he is guilty of the assets declaration trial .But out of respect for the post and for the country.Saraki should have issued a
statement something like,the interest of the country and the senate is paramount.I cannot let such a scandal like this cloud the senate presidency.
I will resign to concentrate solely on clearing my name and maintain the respect due to the senate presidency.But NO NO NO.Such does not happen in Nigeria.Don't be surprised that even if found guilty,the senate president will go to other avenues to appeal till he exhausts all possible avenues,all this while staying as the president of the senate! Sad really,and to think many of our senators went along to court to give support.Support what i say?Some say it is witch hunting,i say this to that,if he is guilty then it is not witch hunting..Full stop!

The latest news now according to the Senate President Bukola Saraki is that some politicians were plotting to remove him from office. Part of the plot, according to Saraki, is sponsored protest marches and demonstrations in which some hired people would be given placards to disturb public peace. A statement by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, said: ‘’The Office of the Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has uncovered a plot by some politicians to sponsor protest marches and demonstrations in which some hired people will be given placards to disturb public peace.
“As part of the plan, they are already distributing money and other materials to some civil society organisations, market men and women associations and other shadowy groups with a view to instigating demonstrations in Lagos, Abuja and Ilorin starting from Monday, April 11. “They believe that the on-going trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal provides them the opportunity to stampede Dr. Saraki out of office so that their defeated objective of getting their lackey into the office of Senate President will be realized.
This is another desperate move by these spineless politicians to achieve through the back door what they failed to realize on the floor of the Senate. “We are alerting members of the public to the antics of these desperate politicians which may result in the breach of public peace, order and health. Dr. Saraki is a peace-loving and law abiding politician”.
