Housemaids and artisans to pay tax in Lagos.
Is this a bad joke or what? I've been pinching myself to see if this was a dream since i saw this.
The Lagos State Government on Tuesday announced that it had widened its tax net to include domestic workers and artisans. The Chairman of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), Mr Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, made the announcement at a news conference in Alausa.

He said the agency had identified three categories of tax payers in the sector.They include market men/women, artisans, micro, small and medium-scale enterprises and domestic staff.
He said these categories of people were expected to remit one per cent of what they earned to government’s coffers.

Now the question is,how much does a maid earn to pay tax? How much does an artisan earn to pay tax? I hope they have got this mixed up somewhere.The Governor should come out and really make this clear.If this is true,he is making a massive mistake.
