It looks like the Vincent Enyeama and Sunday Oliseh saga will run and run for quite a while yet.Enyeama in a latest post on instagram has apologized to Nigerians for retiring. He said it was done in the best interest of the nation. The keeper also refuted the claims of Coach Oliseh who said he had problems with the other coaches. In particular he said he had no problem with Berti Vogts and that he missed one game against Uganda because he had an injury.Austine Ejide replaced him and
played the next match because according to Enyeama,Ejide had a fantastic game,so deserved to play.
Vincent Enyeama's message to Nigerians after retirement. |
But the most touching part of his message was asking anybody how they will feel if they had just lost their mother who carried them for 9 months etc, jumped on a plane for 6 hours to play for his country and was then humiliated in front of the whole team by being stripped of the captainship and walked out?
And i think that was where Oliseh messed up big time.He should have handled the captaincy issue well,Enyeama should have been informed one on one and not done in front of the whole world. That was humiliating and disrespectful for a man who has been a fantastic servant to Nigeria and represented his country for 13 years1 He is also Nigeria's most capped player. Is this how we treat and repay our heroes? And Oliseh should know better,he played for Nigeria as well. And they were the same people who used to compaling
