Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi has married Sa’adatu Barkindo-Musdafa as a 4th wife.

Sa’adatu Barkindo-Musdafa is a princess and  the daughter of the Lamido of Adamawa, Muhammadu Barkindo-Musdafa.Saadatu has just completed her secondary school

education.

The marriage of the Emir of Kano to the 18 year old bride, has caused controversy in Nigeria and the general feeling in the air is that the 54 year old Emir of Kano Sanusi,should not be getting married to an 18 year old who has just completed her secondary school education.On twitter for example the marriage was trending with the hash tag #ChildNotBride.

Personally ,i expected better from the Emir who is an educated and very cultured man.Surely he must realise that a 54 year old man marrying an 18 year old girl almost hinders on abuse edges.

It remains to be seen whether Sa’adatu Barkindo-Musdafa,will be the last of the Emir of Kano wives.As a muslim,the maximum number of wives he can marry is 4,and Sa’adatu is No 4.But as a traditional ruler,he probably can marry more.Since the Emir has an eye for beautiful young women,in a few years time,he might feel he needs another younger model.
