US vows to pressurize Nigeria and Africa to legalize gay marriage.

gay marriage laws in africa
America to keep pressure on Africa to give gays equal rights.
Gay marriage legal Africa.
I see a lot of people in Nigeria reading this and almost choking over their plate of jollof rice or Eba and Okra soup,i hear them screaming-i reject it in Jesus name..Oloun maje,God forbid, and all the other popular Nigerian expressions we let out when we are totally disgusted about a topic.America is determined to spread the equal human rights net far and wide..But i don't quite see the same sex marriage thing working in Africa. Not in the next 50
years! I see a day when they will at least cohabbit with society peacefully, but the marriage thing will be hard to put into effect in Africa or Nigeria.African's are too deep in religion and old fashion values to embrace that.I mean in America,as mordern as they are, millions still object to this ,so you can imagine in Africa what the reception will be like.
Personally,i am not bothered. It does not affect me who gets married to who,as long as all parties are happy.
America, the God’s Own country, as she is fondly called recently legalized gay marriage in all her 50 states, a move that sparked global outrage.
Linda Thomas Greenfield the US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs told journalists via a live web chat yesterday that America would continue to mount pressure on Nigeria and other countries to reverse their anti-gay laws.
In her words:
“As a government, it is one of the highest priorities and strongest values that discrimination against anyone based on their sexual orientation and gender identity is wrong. We believe human rights should be available to everybody.
“As a policy, we will continue to press the government of Nigeria as well as other governments who have provided legislation that discriminate against the LGBT community.”
“This is very much a work in progress, but I think you will agree with me that the law in Nigeria really went far in discriminating against this community but also people who associate with them.
“So we will continue to press the government, to press the legislature to change these laws and provide human rights for all Nigerian people regardless of their sexual orientation.”
“With what is happening in the US, you can determine how far we are willing to go. We strongly believe human rights for all people and we are particularly opposed to legislation that actually targets the gay community for discrimination. So we are prepared to push this as a policy not just in Africa but across the world,”.
