This is really interesting and welcomed stuff. The youths making their voices heard and letting the leaders know they are watching. It once again promotes accountability within our rulers. The impunity will surely come to an end if acts like these prevail.
Hundreds of the youths from Kogi State yesterday gathered at the Head office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja, demanding that former Governor Ibrahim Idris’ eight years administration should be probed.
The protesting youths under the Kogi Liberation Fronts (KLF) and Kogi Progressive Youths
Forum (KPYF), accused incumbent EFCC of bias.
They alleged that former governor Ibrahim Idris’ tenure was a disaster for the state and accused EFCC of taking side.
“The former governor boasted that he is untouchable because, rumour going on in the state has it that the ex governor has settled EFCC.”
The group leader appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene and demand EFCC to arrest and prosecute the former governor.
Speaking at the peaceful protest, KLF coordinator, Comrade Emanuel Okpanachi, said the state has not witnessed any significant growth because Governor Wada inherited empty treasury and bank loans from Idris’ administration.
Okpanachi alleged that the eight years and eight months used by Ibrahim Idris as the state governor was marred by corruption, looting of treasury with impunity, thereby inflicting untold hardship, misery, poverty, penury and suffering on the helpless people of the state.
He noted that the groups are also documenting fraudulent activities ongoing in the present Governor Wada’s administration, urging the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to give room for a level playing ground in choosing its candidate for the next election.
