David Cameron to ban Whatsapp in the UK? |
that's exactly what the conservative government and David Cameron plan to do in the UK in their fight against terrorism!
And it's not the only messaging service they plan to get rid of. iMessage and Snapchat would also be banned in the UK under the awaiting law if passed.

The law would aim to prevent people from using any app which uses encrypted messages and could therefore be seen as a 'terrorist safe space'. When you send a message from any of the above apps your messages are scrambled, meaning that if need be, they could not be accessed by M15 and related security agencies.
The news comes after David Cameron warned earlier this year: “In our country, do we want to allow a means of communication between people which we cannot read? My answer to that question is no we must not."
"If I am Prime Minister, I will make sure it is a comprehensive piece of legislation that makes sure we do not allow terrorist safe spaces to communicate with each other."
Home Secretary Theresa May has also suggested that the Government will push the new legislation through this Autumn. It's suggested that the terrorist atrocities in Tunisia and France have encouraged the government to act fast on the matter.
Whatsapp has become an everyday life necessity for the average phone user in the United Kingdom but could be banned! |
A bill on the law was previously blocked by the Liberal Democrats, but with the Conservatives now in the majority, it's highly likely it will be passed.
However,it's not all totally gloom and doom, if the apps are adapted to co-operate with the new restrictions and start to make our data and messages accessible, they could be saved.
