Mauritius has appointed Ameenah Firdaus Gurib-Fakim as its first woman president on, Thursday, 4th of June, 2015 after her predecessor stepped down from the ceremonial position last week. It is the first time in the history of Mauritius that a woman will become President. Ameenah Firdaus Gurib-Fakimhe steps into her country's history books and joins the very few list of women who have ruled their countries.
