Veteran musician Adamu Wayya popularly called Dan Maraya Jos has been reported dead. The veteran musician died at the age of 69 today Saturday June 20, 2015, after a brief illness in B’ukur, near Jos in Plateau State. In his lifetime,Maraya was best known
for playing the ‘Kontigi’ (a small, single-stringed lute). Dan Maraya Jos, whose name means ‘The Little Orphan of Jos‘, was born in 1946. His first, and perhaps still his most famous song is ‘Wak’ar Karen Mota‘. During the Nigerian Civil War, he composed numerous songs in praise of soldiers of the federal army and incorporated vivid accounts of scenes from the war in his songs....
I find it hard to believe Dan Maraya is 69 though,they must have gotten his age wrong.I could have sworn he was older,but maybe he started really young.
