| Abia state Gov Ikpeazu may be smiling,but his state worker are not over unpaid salaries. |
Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has announced the slashing of his salary and travel allowance by 50%. The governor said he decided to cut his salary and travel allowance so
that he can personally identify with the state workers who have not received their salaries for many months now.
This is a really nice gesture,although some might argue that these men don't rely on the meage salaries they make anyway,but still i'll say we should give the governor the benefit of doubt and commend him for trying to identify with the state worker of Abia state who have to live with the non payments of their salaries after putting in hard work.
He urged other appointees to follow in his foot step. The governor announced his salary slash while swearing in the states new state Head of Service, Dr Vivian Uma.
It is ridiculous that a country with vast wealth in so many areas like Nigeria,will continue to owe its workers salaries for months and months.It's not as if the people can see that this is why we are owed salaries,because the government has carried out this big projects.They have no electricity,no good roads,no health services,decaying infrastructure,and upon all that they are not paid? Hmmm..suffering and not smiling!
