Kanye West was decorated with an honorary doctorate degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago at its annual commencement today May 11th. Kanye went to the
ceremony alone as his wife, Kim K and their daughter were in Brazil for the launch of her new clothing collection.
School of the Art Institute of Chicago, one of the most prestigious art schools in the US, said the honorary doctorate is given to "influential individuals" who earned "this distinguished award through their work''. Kanye's selection stirred up controversy amongst some students and alum, but SAIC President Walter E. Massey and Dean of Faculty Lisa Wainwright firmly defended the decision to award Kanye with a degree in an interview saying:
"The guy is smart, the music is beautiful, it's complicated, it's post-modern, it's hip, it's awakening," said Wainwright, "I couldn't be happier."
Personally i don't think he deserves it.Kanye West is all about hype and Pr..How many hits songs has he had? How many hit albums? How many years has he been on the grind and how many of his songs have been influential to the society?There are many deserving artists who have been prolific consistently or recorded songs that have an impact on humanity,but i guess they don't sell magazines or generate views on blog pages!.
