Nigeria has explained why they stopped the training of Nigerian forces by the US. I'm not sure i agree with their reason, couldn't there have been a solution? We should be doing all we can to enforce and raise the efficiency of our armed forces. Not stopping important training...And if you look deep down,it comes to one thing,MONEY! So what happened to the recent $1b the government got from a new loan to enhance security?
These people really take the biscuit i tell you..
Earlier this week, the US released a statement expressing shock that the Nigerian Government had stopped them from training Nigerian soldiers to help in the fight against Boko Haram.
The coordinator of the National Information Centre, Mr. Mike Omeri, told journalists the training of our soldier by US was cancelled because the US relied on Nigerian equipment which is currently in use in troubled states in the North east. He said
“The training that is being mentioned were supposed to be in three phases, two phases have been concluded, the next phase requires some logistical components and I don’t think it’s wise to take equipment from the field and keep them in Jaji for training when our soldiers are out there needing the equipment.(continue)I just don't understand it,Nigeria are in no position to be cancelling training for our forces now,it's not as if they instill confidence in the nation. The soldiers are complaining they don't have enough weaponry, their weapons are inferior to Boko Haram's,Nigeria is cancelling training of soldiers because apparently, the equipments for use are being utilized in troubled parts of the nation. Can't the government get replacement equipments?Like i said earlier what happened to all the billions of dollars that were dedicated to security in the budget? What did they procure with this money?Computers? We need serious help in Nigeria ,i swear!
“The training that is being offered by the American Government did not also come with the equipment component, so if our soldiers need the same equipment, and you all know the status of our stock, we will not withdraw everything and go for training when we have need for it on the field,” he explained.
