It's hard times right now for all lovers of Cricket as another death has occured in the game.55-year-old referee Hillel Oscar, has died after being hit by a cricket ball while officiating a match in the southern port city of Ashdod on Saturday Nov 29. Speaking from the hospital where Mr Oscar was pronounced dead, the Israel's cricket association chief Naor Gudker says Oscar tried to escape the ball after it bounced to his direction but he fell;
“He was an international umpire. He officiated in European championships, he officiated in games in Israel: his future was ahead of him. He was a player for the national Israeli team and he was captain of the national team. We know a ball was hit in his direction, he tried to escape it, he fell - what happened there is still being investigated.
The entire Israel Cricket Association and players bow their heads in his memory. He was a wonderful man, cricketer, and umpire,” he said.
The news comes just days after the death of Australian batsman Phillip Hughes from a freak head injury.
