Super Falcons win African Women Championship beating Cameroon 2-0! |
Nigeria's Super Falcons have won their 7th African Women's Championship after a 2-0
win over the Lionesses of Cameroun in Namibia. Goals were from Desire Oparanozie and Asisat Oshoala. Well done, ladies!! Super Falcons Asisat Oshoala was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
While Nigeria is a regular face in the final, it is the first time Cameroon had reached the final of the biennial championship since its inception in 1998.
The Falcons, having been dethroned by Equatorial Guinea, have left no one in doubt of their mission to win back the African Women's Championship as they have carefully displaced all the oppositions that have come their way so far.
Saturday’s paring saw the Falcons, who finished tops in their group, with Cameroon who also achieved same feat in their own group. But the Supeer Falcons of Nigeria were simply too strong for their Cameroonian counterparts.
It was sweet revenge for the Super Falcons of Nigeria who had been beaten by the Lioness of Cameroon in the third place match of the last African Women's Championship and also denied the Super Falcons of Nigeria of a place in the Olympic.
But revenge tasted so sweet today as the Super Falcons won the African Women's Championship for record 7th time to be crowned the African Women's Champions yet again! Congratulations Falcons and Nigeria!
