Michelle Obama remember the Chibok Girls.
The Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr. Mike Omeri, amazed a lot of people with his threats at a crowded press conference in Abuja to advocates of #bringbackourgirls# protest,yesterday.Mr Omeri said that the patience of government over the activities of groups and individuals calling for the release of the more than 200 students abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, has reached unbearable points and such actions will no longer be tolerated.Listening to him speak was like listening to a military dictator speak.
Don't these guys have no conscience or heart?Would he have spoken like this if his daughter was on eof the girls missing?Isn't this supposed to be a democracy?People can't protest anymore?While Mr Mike Omeri was busy threatening Nigerians,international figures like Alicia Keys and Michelle Obama ,the first lady of the USA,were keeping the flame for the Chibok girls burning.It is clear the Nigerian government don't understand this is a clearly sensitive subject.
They treat the whole matter with such disdain and non chalant attitude.The president of the country,Goodluck Jonathan took months to meet the family of the Chibok girls,but stopped and postponed a national meeting on the welfare of the country when the brother of his Vice President who was not even in government died! I just can't believe Nigeria,things that happen in that country are utterly incredible!
Now we have a minister openly threatening Nigerians simply cos they are making their voices heard on the matter of over 200 school girls who have been kidnapped! How exactly are they stopping the government from doing their work?Have they tampered with investigations or evidence? I just can't understand it.
Omeri warned the protesters especially the #BringBackOurGirls group led by former Minister of Education, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili, to stop distracting the government and the military from carrying out the counter-insurgency operation going on in the northeast.
The DSS, the FPRO, ministry officials and Dr. Doyin Okupe, Presidential Senior Special Adviser [Media] were all present when Omeri was making his speech and none of them thought it was overboard.They obviously all went through it beforehand.Mr. Omeri remarked that the protests have become more of a diversion to the government and the Armed Forces and must be stopped! So how exactly do you intend to do this Mr Omeri? Arrest or jail people?
