Liberia has apologised to Nigeria for Patrick Sawyer bringing Ebola into the country,especially since it has emerged his recklessness might have been the reason the
desease got into Nigeria in the first place.Patrick Sawyer was said to have urinated on the hospital staff who were treating him when he was told he had the Ebola Virus.There were also suggestions,he might have known he was carrying the virus before he left Liberia for Nigeria.
Sawyer is said to have been under surveillance by Liberian health authorities but escaped quarantine. This is what baffles me about us in Africa.A man who could be such grave danger to potentially thousands,how could he have escaped if he was under surveillance?Why wasn't his passport seized or airport authorities informed and warned not to let him leave the country?Pure incompetence,always our doing in Africa!
“The Liberian President,Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, has personally called to apologise on the unfortunate development…she equally apologised that Sawyer ignored medical advice and escaped out of Liberia,” said Liberian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs,Nurudeem Mohammed.
