The Nigerian custom has intercepted and burnt a trailer load of smuggled monkey
meat into the country.The exercise was carried out in steps to keep a check on the Ebola virus epidemic threatening to engulf the country.The customs officers chased the smugglers and eventually forced the smugglers into a ditch.As a result the smugglers abandoned the trailer load of monkey meat and took to their heels according to accounts from the officer who led the operation, Assistant Comptroller, Gambo Azare, while addressing newsmen.

Two things surprises me about this operation,first,with all the outcry of Ebola,who is in a hurry to purchase monkey meat?Except the consumers are not really told the source of the meat.The second thing is,looking at this trailer,one can imagine how many monkeys were killed to fill that trailer.They are slowly and surely killing the wildlife.How many monkeys will be left at this rate?Sad,really sad.
