Ukrainian Interior Minister said all on board are dead and that the plane was shot down by Russian anti-aircraft missile at 33,000 feet and at 500mph.The plane departed Amsterdam
at 12.15pm and went down around 4.30pm
The plane, a Boeing 777, came down near the city of Donetsk, which is a border between Russia and Ukraine where a Ukraine transport plane was shot down on Monday July 13th and a military jet shot down last week from the Russian side of the border.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said his country’s armed forces didn’t shoot at any airborne targets. “We do not exclude that this plane was shot down, and we stress that the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not take action against any airborne targets,” he said. “We are sure that those who are guilty in this tragedy will be held responsible.”
Meanwhile, east Ukrainian separatist leader Aleksander Borodai blamed the plane crash on the country’s government forces.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Areseniy Yatseniuk ordered an investigation into the “airplane catastrophe,” his spokeswoman Olga Lappo told Reuters on Thursday. His Malaysian counterpart, Mohd Najib Tun Razak, also said he had ordered an investigation, saying that he was "shocked by reports that an MH plane has crashed.
The Interior Minister said pro-Russian separatists have been hunting down their planes for weeks. 6 Ukrainian military jets have been shot down in the last few months by the Russians. There's been military dispute between Ukraine and Russia for a while.
Lets hope this is not the beginning of another international crisis.
