No Jobs in Nigeria as 20,000 sit for Army examinations

Any hope for these students in obtaining jobs in Nigeria?

  • 20,000 sit in rain for Army exams in Calabar
  • Shows how scarce jobs are in Nigeria.

OVER 20,000 applicants, yesterday, defied a downpour and sat quietly at the 13 Amphibious Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Calabar to write the examination to be recruited into the army.
Comprised of young men and women, the teeming crowd sat quietly as rain drops pelted their bodies and soaked them right down to their under garments while horse whip bearing soldiers stood guard.
Yes 20,000 people!20,000 people sitting for Nigeria Army examination! It's not as if it's the best job in the country anyway. Not for a banking job,or teachers job or even government workers. It shows that in Nigeria there are no jobs period! You only have to announce a vacancy of jobs anywhere in Nigeria, and it will be invaded like bees to honey! What is the Nigerian government doing to provide jobs for Nigerian youths? When was the last time you had the government had created a massive job scheme that will cater for thousands of
Nigerian youths?

When did you last hear of the government boasting that this month, they provided jobs for 1,000 Nigerian youths? These poor kids spend years in institutions and Univeristies, studying and going through the rigorous Nigerian educational system and at the end of it No Jobs! That's why you see men in the 30's and some 40s still living in their father's houses.
Anyway moving on the army job recruitment which took place in Calabar....

The youth underwent rigorous screening exercise before being allowed entry  into the field at the   Brigade headquarters at Akim where they wrote the examination as  no hall was big enough to accommodate them.
They first     stood in a long queue which stretched two kilometres beginning from the gate of the Brigade through Mary Slessor Avenue to Calabar Road .
Captain Ibrahim Yussuf,  the Army Brigade Public Relations Officer, was not present at the examination venue and several calls to his mobile phone were not   answered. A source at the venue of the exercise said this year’s rigorous screening exercise of the applicants was to safeguard against any breach in security during the exercise.
All we are saying..Give Nigerian youths Jobs!
