Onazi still has he humour despite a terrible injury,he has a word for the referee. |
- Referee made costly and bad decisions.
- Keshi had no plan B
- Onazi's loss played a big factor in France finding their feet.
- Keshi failed to gamble.
I have tried so hard not to write about the Nigeria France game but it's been hard.I'm just gonna say a couple of things and get it off my chest and maybe then i'll feel better!
The Referee definitely did not want Nigeria to win.How could he? Was the referee given a directive by FIFA or did he just not fancy an African team making the last 8? I'll give you a couple of instances. We should have had at least one penalty.Did u see how Patrice Evra held down Odemwingie? It was ridiculous! Even the Police could not have done better. That was a penalty full stop!
And the funniest thing was the referee saw it cos he crossed over to Evra and had a word with him.SMH
There was another case but that was debatable so i will stick to this.
Second reason why the referee did not want the Nigeria to win was when Giroud of Arsenal gave Mikel Obi an elbow. That elbow was as clear as night and day! And if Mikel Obi had been switched on,he should have gone down simple. But Mikel is always slow to everything. The referee saw the incident clearly cos he went over to Giroud and spoke to him.Now why would the referee wanna speak to Giroud? If you gave someone an elbow off the ball,it is clearly a RED card..no lecturing about it.
And the most ridiculous decision of all was the tackle on Onazi. That was so bad it's a miracle his ankle was not broken! And guess what, the referee didn't even give the guy a yellow card! And to make matters worse all the commentators were screaming about it..Even Diego Maradona said that tackle was worse than the bite of Suarez on Chiellini!!
Now the saddest thing about Ogenyi Onazi's injury was,as soon as he was taken off,France had the midfield. Before then they were struggling, but suddenly the mid field
was open to them,no Babatunde and no Onazi, and it showed.Keshi in his inexplicable wisdom had refused to take Sunda Mba to the world cup,who could have stepped in perfectly.

Osaze talking about the foul by Evra. |
The referee made bad and costly decisions& played a big part in us losing the game but Keshi did not help too.
When you play a system and you are about to be knocked out of the world cup,you get flexible and switch tactics.Keshi had complained that Osaze did not play to instruction in the Iran game, even though the whole country thought he was fantastic. Now i understand what instruction Keshi was talking about. He wanted Osaze to play right back, striker and midfielder.Because Osaze was all over the place against France. If Keshi had said to Osaze ok,stay upfront in the middle, that guy would have got a goal, cos he was dealing with the French in all the areas of the field.
Brazil's weather condition is not a place you want a guy likely to get a goal for you to run around the whole pitch..stick him upfront with 20mins to go and tell him, stay there and get a goal!
Emenike was the same thing, atimes i was not sure if he was a winger or a striker.Keshi made life easy for France.Emenike is a beast! Play him in the middle deep in frances's half and let him conserve his energy just for the goalbound threats to the France team.I'm afraid Keshi got it wrong. Why play the same way for 90mins? Why not gamble towards the end? Why play with only one striker upfront?I dont remember ever seeing Benzema in France's defence. He was upfront keeping our defenders on their toes..Odemwingie had to run from riht back so many times and by the time he got upfront the french
were back to cover up.Our boys used up too much energy.Even the France coach said he knew our boys couldn't keep up that pace and when they got tired he would hit us.He had a plan B,we didn't have aplan B,we played the same system throughout the game.

Keshi should have added Ameobi towards the last 10 minutes and go for it.We were losing anyway,so what did he have to lose?
And the annoying thing about Keshi is ,he always blames everybody else but himself. The other day he blamed Odemwingie not playing to instructions and he was part of the reason we did not win. This is a player who came on with 20 minutes to go.What about the players who were playing to instructions for 70 mins?
And then i read Keshi blaming Vincent Enyeama who ahd been immense for us,saying he made a mistake, and he didn't understand why he chose to come for the cross! Jeez..How about all the 974 times he has saved you?
Keshi then said he doesn't know why the African teams always lose, maybe it's their mentality,if it were him(Keshi)he would not wanna lose at the world cup.So you are saying these guys lost on purpose? Is Africa the only team that lost at the world cup?Didn't Spain,Italy and England lose to name a few?
Once again it is Keshi blaming everybody else and not himself.Keshi would never think maybe i played a wrong system or picked the wrong team.Maybe i chose the wrong players.Maybe i should have taken Uche and Mba.No,Stephen Keshi never makes mistakes.I was a big Keshi fan,but to be honest,i'm not gonna miss him now.His man management skills are very very very poor!
