Real heroes seem to never be moved by money, or material goods. Crisis-hit Greece World Cup Players that qualified for the second stage of the World Cup just said they do not want their hard-earned bonuses and instead asked for their money to be spent for a new training center the Greek National Team needs.

Greece,the 2004 European Champions that do not train in fancy sports centers and have seen the Greek National Team’s budget being cut surprised World Cup fans at a last minute win against Ivory Coast to qualify for the knockout stage and now prove that all they want is to make Greeks

and Greece proud denying even their very-much deserved bonuses.The Greek players that are not among the most well-paid in professional soccer lead by example in a country that was crippled by many years of political corruption and money-hungry politicians.

The "Greece 2014 World Cup squad have practically surprised the world after they politely turned down a bonus from their Prime Minister", Antonis Samaras, for reaching the knockout phase for the first time in the famous tournament’s history.


A very brief letter signed by all the 23 players, read:

"We do not want extra bonus, or money. We only play for Greece and its people. All we want is for you to support our effort to find a land and create a sports center that will house our national team ".

Are these Greece players ok? Do we need to get some doctors to examine them? This is so refreshing to see that the Greece players are really patriotic and have the best interest of the nation at heart.They could have held the nation to ransom being that they qualified for the knock out stages for the first time in their history.But these Greece National team player looked beyond that.
We hope many more people follow these example set by the Greeks.Still can't get my head round it that Greece turned down their bonus money!
