Singer Chris Brown was released from jail early Monday morning, several months before completing his one-year sentence, Los Angeles County Sheriff's officials confirmed.
Brown, 25, was sentenced to a year in jail by a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge in early May for violating his probation for the 2009 attack on his then-girlfriend Rihanna.
The R&B singer admitted in court to getting arrested last October and being charged with assault in an incident outside of a Washington, D.C. hotel.
Brown was released just after midnight on Monday from the county's Inmate Reception Center, L.A. County sheriff's deputy Don Walker said.
Brown had served several months in jail and more than three months in a rehab program prior to his sentencing and was expected to be released early due to overcrowding in Los Angeles County jails.
During Brown's May 9 sentencing, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge James Brandlin extended Brown's probation upon his release from jail to Jan. 23, 2015. He also will be required to see a Pasadena psychiatrist twice a week and a therapist, complete his outstanding community service, take appropriate medication and not use medical marijuana.
Brown still faces a misdemeanor assault trial in the nation's capital.
