Today, Thursday 5th June 2014, during a failed attempt by the Biafra Zionist Federation to allegedly announce the secession of “Republic of Biafra” in a studio at the Enugu State Broadcasting Service, two people died.

According to Punch, the BZF earlier attracted attention on the 8th of March when members of the group invaded the Enugu State Government House to hoist the flag of the Republic of
Biafra.
Around 5:30 am today, members who have since been declared wanted by the police, invaded the studio with a recorded compact disc which allegedly contains an announcement of the secession of the Biafran Nation.
They ordered the staff to allow them make a live broadcast. The broadcasters refused and alerted the police.
A police officer sent to location to contain the situation, was shot and killed by members of the group. But they also lost one of their members who was killed by the police.
After arresting the members, Adamu Mohammed, the state’s commissioner of police, addressed journalists.
He said the group planned to set the station on fire and admitted they came with a compact disc to “make a live broadcast to Nigerians”.
Mohammed also claims that a paper with written words by the group, stated they wanted the youths to “come out” and fight for their rights.
