It's sad news for Belgium and Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke as he suffered a serious injury that rules him out of the World cup in Brazil.
Christian Benteke suffered a torn achilles in training for Aston Villa and will miss the World Cup with Belgium.
In a huge blow for club and country the striker is feared to be out for up to eight months due to
the acute nature of the injury sustained at Villa’s Bodymoor Heath base.
The 23-year-old underwent scans in hospital to ascertain the extent of the rupture and worst suspicions were confirmed, meaning surgery and a lengthy lay-off. His agent Kismet Eris was understood to be flying in to Birmingham to be by his side.‘It’s a terrible blow both for Christian and for the club,’ Lambert said. ‘He will miss the rest of the season, obviously, and also the World Cup. But he’ll work hard because that’s what he does and he’ll come back for us stronger than ever next season.’
