While in the school, parents of the missing students told the governor that contrary to media reports that 129 girls were abducted, that the actual number is 234. They said the 129 girls earlier reported were science students who were in the school writing their WAEC exams, while the remaining 106 students were Arts students who were at their hostels when the attackers arrived.
