Ruud Gullit the Dutch football legend is currently in Lagos,Nigeria touring with the Heineken Champions League trophy. At the Eko Hotels while engaging the media he was asked why he cut his tardemark dreadlocks.
He smiled and said that he needed to close the books on the Ruud Gullit that on the field and a Ruud Gullit that was no longer playing football.
‘’It’s not been easy without the locks but I needed to carve a different image different from when
I was playing. I’ve lived 14 years without my trademark locks. At times, it makes it difficult for people to recognize me. It is indeed good as the book on Ruud Gullit with the dreadlocks has been closed for an entirely different life outside the pitch”, he said to a thunderous applause from the audience.
He also talked about how he thinks Nigeria will fair in the world cup and replied...‘’Indeed, I watched the Eagles when they won the African Cup of Nations in South Africa. Since then, they have grown in confidence and understanding. And Coach Stephen Keshi has been doing a very good job on the team”,
He also remarked that the hot weather might be of advantage to the Super Eagles in Brazil:‘’It’ll be difficult for European teams to handle the hot weather. That will be an advantage to African teams and this is where the Eagles come in. The weather will be to their advantage and I think that Nigeria is always blessed with talents. We had great talents like Sunday Oliseh(pointing to him), Jay Jay Okocha, Finidi George, Christian Chukwu and many others. -
