No more Cash!

Is this a new dawn in Nigeria? First it was the new number plates for cars being nullified,Now it's the toll for the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge being equally nullified.I never thought this could happen in our land cos i figured everything was "padi padi" Every case's outcome  was pre-determined,but i like this new dawn.So what next?Public probes for officials?PHCN being sued or contractors being sued for not carrying out the projects payed for by public tax? Hmmm...Back to the latest case though,A federal high court sitting in
Ikoyi, Lagos, has ruled against the collection of toll fees on the Lekki-Ikoyi suspension bridge; describing the action as illegal, null and void.
The suit was filed by Human Rights Lawyer, Ebun Adegboruwa.
Justice Saidu, J, who delivered the court’s ruling held that all navigable waters in the country where under the province of the federal government and the state governments had no business making money off federal landmarks. He said the State Government could only apply toll collection on the bridge if it was done under the public-private partnership arrangement. He however said this was not the case because all legal documents brought before the court showed the bridge was built from State Government funds.
“Thus, since there is no law supporting the toll fee, it is illegal and should be stopped forthwith”, Justice Saidu said.
Adegboruwa commended the ruling by the court, saying; “Coming a day after the same court nullified the imposition of new number plates, this judgment should be an elixir to all Nigerians to challenge in the court, all illegal taxes and arbitrary charges in the name of road tax, PHCN metre maintenance charge, estimate bills without electricity, and so on”.
