Peter Obi Anambra Gives N1Million each to 160 1st Class Students

All i hear about this Governor ,Peter Obi is great things. These are the kinds of leaders we need in Nigeria and Africa.I don't think i have ever heard of a State Govt awarding huge sums of money to graduating 1st class students to help them establish their careers. You can bet your bottom dollar 85% of these guys will use that money wisely as they are smart students in the 1st place..That money might also go back into the economy in a positive way because most of these students will wanna start something in their chosen fields. There is also the angle of students being encouraged and knowing that if they excelled they would be rewarded instantly and not spend 3 years sitting at home or selling recharge cards like a girl i knew who passed out with 1st class honors
but had to sell recharge cards for over a year!
I sincerely hope this man can become the President of Nigeria in the not too distant future. Will it ever happen though? Would the establishment let guys like these smell that kind of power? This is the same leader who left tons of money in the coffers of the Govt.He is also the same leader who said he has used the same wrist watch for 14 years!
I think a dream Govt would be of him and Gov.Fashola of Lagos State.Maybe there is hope for Nigeria after all
Gov. Peter Obi of Anambra on Thursday presented N1 million each to 160 first class graduates of the state to enable them to be established in their chosen careers.
Addressing the graduates in Awka on Thursday, Obi said the gesture was a way of encouraging hard work among students and youths in the state.
The governor also used the occasion to distribute 55 school buses to 55 secondary schools, saying it was part of the final push in the education sector.
He further inaugurated the distribution of more than 200 transformers to various communities as well as two fire trucks to the state fire service.
Obi assured that his successor, Mr Willie Obiano, would sustain the gesture and called on the people of the state to support the in-coming administration.
Earlier, the state Commissioner for Education, Dr Uju Okeke, commended the governor for the transformation so far witnessed in the education sector.
She said that Obi’s administration had so far distributed about N2.8 billion to the Catholic mission schools and about N2 billion to Anglican mission schools.(NAN)
