Top 10 Nigerian Celebrities 2013

2013 has been a very eventful year for Nigerian Entertainment.The industry seems to go from strength to strength,with global acceptance,huge endorsements and great online presence.Some celebs obviously had a better time than others for various reasons,here i am going to highlight my Nigerian top Ten celebs of  2013.

Sitting at Number 10 on my list is a man who necessarily is not a celeb or start out as one.But ended up as an unwilling one with his name on the lips of everyone from my mum to the 10 year old on the street corner His catchy My oga at the top phrase was exhibited in such a funny and charming way that you could not help but laugh at his ignorance to the simplest question he was asked that resorted to the whole charade.We had Oga at the Top Tee Shirts,Mugs,screen savers,songs and anything you can think of.So i doff my hat to our unlikely and unwilling celeb who sits comfortably at No 10

FLAVOUR NABANIA

Flavour Nabania! The African sensation...this guy is huge in Africa.You only have to see the thousands of ladies who go in droves like heading on a pilgrimage to see Flavour perform.The fact that he sings most of his songs in his local dialect does not seem to detract his fans from Cote D'ivoire,Zambia,Zimbabwe,Uganda,the USA Germany,Malaysia ,UK..The list goes on for Flavour.His song and Video for the song Ada is a huge favourite with his fans and you can hear them sing along at concerts like a ministry singing along to their Minister conducting the choir.Flavour is here to stay!

P-SQUARE

What else is there to say about P Square?P Square have been at the Top consistently and solidly for 10 years and are not going anywhere soon.They did not release an album in 2013 but it still did not stop them from ruling Nigeria Africa and the World territory.Alingo and the huge song Personally with its Video dedicated to Michael Jackson, blew the minds of fans in Nigeria,Africa and around the world.Jermaine Jackson,Michael's brother remarked the Video was amazing and a befitting tribute to his brother.As usual they also sold out many Stadiums across Africa.P Square capped of the year by both brothers getting engaged to their long time partners and baby mothers while Peter went a step better by getting married to Lola Omotayo.Personally,P Square had a great yeat and proudly sit at No 8

VINCENT  ENYEAMA

The safest hands in African soccer...oh and French soccer too..that title belongs to only one man...Vincent Enyeama! Vincent Enyeama has had a great year.He manned the posts for the Super Eagles on their way to winning the African Cup of Nations in South Africa.A title they had not won since 1994.He also help secure Nigeria's passage to the World cup with his safe hands.Nigeria conceded the least goals amongst all the nations playing  for the World cup qualifiers.He also made his move to France,playing in their Top division for Lille and setting a club record in the french Ligue by going 11 games without conceding a goal.He also beat Ibrahimovic Twice to win the player of the Month awards of October and November.2013 truly belonged to Enyeama and now lets hope he shuts out everyone at the World cup and take an African Team to the finals for the first time ever.

STEPHEN KESHI

Stephen Keshi! The man who did the impossible.98% of the fans never gave The Super Eagles or Keshi a chance in hell when they were going to South Africa for 2013 Cup Of Nations.The best they hoped for was a Semi Final place.Keshi not only took the Eagles there with a bunch of new plyers ,dropping most of the known household names like Obafemi Martins,Osaze Odemwingie,Yakubu just to name a few.He instead brought in a lot of local and unknown players like Sunday Mba who shone like a bright star at the tournament.They not only won playing beautiful football,But also won it by beating the Cote D'ivoire team which was a tournament favourite for everyone comprehensively.They also went to the Confederations cup,and even though they didn't win it nobody could argue with the football they played and if not for the injuries and strikers missing,they would have gone further in the tournament.Keshi also qualified the home based Eagles for the African Championship for home based players.For the first time in a long time,peple are once again watching the Nigerian Football team with hope and expectations,young and old,male and female,This is down to one man..Stephen Keshi and for this he claims my NO 6 Spot!

DAVIDO

I still don't know if its Davido or David O,but whichever it is nobody can dispute the fact that this young man has been a phenomenon in a very short time and the year 2013 has not been any diffrent.Davido had many smash hits such as One of a kind,Gobe and the runaway smash Skelewu.Endless tours,endorsements,awards and the creator of a new dance craze..its all in a year's work for Davido. If he is not in my list i'm sure i go see Gobe..

OMOTOLA JALADE

Omo Sexy as she is known by her adoring fans had a great year.She was representing on all the Red Carpets to reckon with.Tons of awards both internationally and locally and finally came into her own.

Today, she is not only noted for her incomparable showbiz accomplishments, but is also applauded for her remarkable humanitarian efforts. Over the years, Omotola has been a pioneer in the Nollywood film industry, successfully becoming the most watched actress in Africa. She was recently honored on the 2013 Time 100 Most Influential People In The World List alongside Michelle Obama, Beyonce and Kate Middleton.

In early 2013, Omotola made her U.S. television debut in VH1's scripted series, Hit the Floor. On November 2, 2013, she spoke at the 2013 edition of the WISE Summit, held in Doha, Qatar.

The Kukere master,the snakes hips and endorsement King! 2013 was a dream year for Iyanya..countless awards..even more endorsements,he made something like 150 million in endorsments for the year.A hugely successful American Tour and more hits songs.Iyanya was an unstoppable force in 2013 and capped it off with a headies award as the Artiste of the year.

MERCY JOHNSON

Mercy Johnson in 2013 was the most searched Nollywood actress,it was her third consecutive triumph...it was also revealed that she was the most expensive Nollywood actress to hire for your movie.She also did some incredible acting,got her body shape back,moved into a beautiful new mansion with her hubby and survived conspiracy to derail her because of her highly publicised fees.She also did loads of business in various African Countries.Mercy Mercy me....No 2 is where thou shall reside in my list.

WIZKID

Wizkid consolidated all the great things he had been doing over the last 3 years.He managed to fix the threatening situation with his label EMG,made up with his mentor Banky W and then killed his fans with two worldwide smash songs...Azonto and the irresistible Caro. Wizkid sold out shows all across the globe.And we are not talking Africans going to see shows in Europe or America.It's white fans and Asians fans paying good money to sample the "Starboy". Wizkid is my man of the year..shame he is too young for me :)
