Air Arik Nigeria anniversary.
Its a double celebration today Sat 14-Dec-2013 for Arik Air as they celebrate their 7th year anniversary as an
indigenous commercial carrier in Nigeria Aviation and also unveils a new CRJ1000 Bombadier . Arik Air is the first to acquire such fleet in Nigeria. The CRJ1000 by Mesaba Aviation, operating at the time as Northwest Airlink (now Delta Connection), was the launch customer, and remains the largest operator of the CRJ900 and CRJ100 NextGen.
The CRJ1000 is a 104 ‘seater’ that was introduced in 2007 by Mesaba. This will enable Arik Air facilitation of carring more passengers around the world.
The President and Chief Executive Officer of Bombadier Inc. Mr. Pierre Beaudoin said ““We have a lot of partners in Nigeria, first of all, private aeroplane operators, but most importantly Arik Air; we are beginning to find out that it is an extraordinary airline and I promised Mr. Joseph (Arumemi –Ikhide, Chairman, Arik Air) we shall visit and that is what I’m doing today.”
While the Deputy Canadian Ambassador to Nigeria Marcello DiFranco said the relationships with Canada and Nigeria has been on positive increase, he welcomed Arik Air into the Canadian threshold of business.
Arik Air who was certified to have carried over millions of commercial passengers since inception was in August 2006, granted authorisation by the Federal Ministry of Aviation to fly to Trinidad and Tobago and Amsterdam, London, Madrid in Europe. Furthermore, the airline plies Atlanta, Miami, and Houston in the United States and Birmingham in the United Kingdom.
